The manipulations of COVID are indeed a reminder that we need another Renaissance. In Brecht's Life of Galileo, if I remember correctly, ordinary people (as opposed to experts) are portrayed as those who care about the truth and empirical observations. Thank you for an inspiring commentary.

I cite you: « Our debt to the Truckers Freedom Convoy is incalculable. » and agree so much. And the layperson turn the table around. When this happened I felt it was so important and so couragious.

Thank you for this essay that brings much resolution to this sad story of our times

I'm sorry, but this essay is a huge load of crap that makes extensive use of half-truths. The essential idea of Aristotle was that physical reality is our objective absolute (our source of objective knowledge), that our emotions together with our ability to conceptualize and abstraction is a natural ability of the human mind (vs the Platonic notion of a vision into an alternative Utopian Universe).

Thank you.

I believe you are confusing Aristotle the scientist vs Aristotle the philosopher.

My essay describes accurately the replacing of Aristotelean scientific approaches by Francis Bacon's emphasis on experiment, testing and verification of the phenomena of nature. Please see: https://www.criver.com/eureka/francis-bacon-versus-the-greeks. Also read the entire introduction to "A Course of Lectures on Natural Philosophy" by the brilliant British scientist Thomas Young (linked in my essay): https://www.mm.bme.hu/~kossa/books/Young%20-%201807%20-%20Course%20of%20lectures%20on%20natural%20philosophy%20and%20the%20mechanical%20arts%20Vol%201.pdfutm_source=substack&utm_medium=email

No your essay is not accurate. Bacon successfully established a scientific method because of his Aristotelean influences (methods of observation). Aristotle (some 17 centuries earlier) established the law of Identity, and the methods of definition, and logic. Aristotle initiated the science of biology using his own methods that were built and improved upon by the likes of Bacon.
