Absolutely they are heroes. They brought hope back to us when we were hopeless and the days were so dark we didn't know if it would ever get better. I will never forget the absolute joy I felt standing on an overpass early one sunny, freezing January morning with dozens of fellow Canadians, seeing that beautiful caravan come over the horizon, hearing the horns honk, seeing the flags wave. Finally something was happening. History will recognize them as glorious heroes, even if they are demonized now. That's always the way though, isn't it.
So beautifully written, thank you for the recap. For me, it was one of the best experiences of my Canadian life. To this day, if I watch clips of this great act of peaceful protesting, tears well up in my eyes. It made me so proud to stand with so many in the freezing cold and to walk the streets of Ottawa and to talk to strangers as like-minded friends.
Yess! The Trucker Convoy is a major part of world history. There we were, standing on snow hillocks in parliament’s long shadow of guilt, with placard. One of mine said” The World Is Watching”
Oh my you totally “invoked” the spirit of the convoy in your essay. A year ago I felt alone in my feelings of despair but with eyes glued to social media watching the Freedom Convoy I began to feel hopeful. Freedom will prevail!
Totally agree with you dr Christian- every time I pass a truck I am reminded of their heroic rally and I pray all involved are released from any repercussions stemming from the protest
Photographs of hundreds of trucks driving through snow is still front and center on my computer - and more importantly in my heart every day when I wake up.
There have been two life affirming political events for me in the past 12 years and I hope to remind every one in the US of the first. That was when OVER 99% of us were on the same side in 2009 against the bank bailouts. I was so excited that we were truly all unified on that one point.
The second time I've had weeks of joy was immersing myself every waking moment in all the people in Ottawa led by the truckers. I haven't been that happy since the birth of my first born or falling in love.

Thank you. A truly wonderful tribute. Our world did change last year because of these tremendously competent and caring people.

Very nice, thank you for that lovely synopsis. I watched viva frei from down here in the us and must say I was very proud of my Canadian neighbors!

It showed us we were neither alone nor crazy. Still stirs strong emotions.

Thanks for your efforts, you are a real life hero.
Beautifully stated - I got chills.
Alas, the "parasite" class isn't done with us yet. On the bright side, clearly there are many more of us opposed than they would have us believe.
