Since “power corrupts and corrupts absolutely,” we must not assume that this applies only to a communist framework of power.
Capitalistic power, fascist power, globalist power - all these may wear different clothes, but inside, the corrupted heart of absolute power beats with the same, evil, irregular beat as the communist heart.
It is undoubtedly true that so called “cultural Marxism” as conceived by the Italian Marxist Antonio Gramisci, the French postmodernists and the American Herbert Marcuse, has taken over present day politics and society in all Western and many Eastern nations too. The take-over though, was essentially complete by the 1990s - and is not a twenty first century phenomenon. In fact, the take-over in our universities was completed a decade earlier, in the 1980s.
One way that this take-over by the “cultural Marxists” works is by both promoting and defining words and language for you - like “misinformation,” “gender,” “disinformation,” “race,” and of course, “cultural marxism” itself! The latter is now promoted as a “conspiracy theory!”
By promoting the word “cultural marxism” as a conspiracy theory, the cultural marxists make you question the meaning of the words themselves. This is a classic ploy from the cultural marxist playbook (it is described in their literature). American populations recognize for example, that they live in a glitzy, capitalist society with soaring stock-markets - and then tell themselves (with some justification) that this cannot be a marxist (common ownership by the worker class) society.
In fact, what we live under today, is a very capitalistic tyranny. It is not new. One form of it is called fascism (not “communism”), which the Italian fascist Mussolini defined as the fusion of corporate power and government power.
The present dispensation in America is controlled by a very few, very rich and temporally powerful people. They are all interconnected and are not accountable to anyone. They control the President, they control Congress, they control the press, they control social media (with the possible exception of Twitter), the FBI, the CIA, the money markets, the making of war, the making of money, the movement of people and the use of language. Like the quintessential James Bond villain in the underground bunker and in an almost cartoonish (but alas too real) manner, these are the people that possess the levers of power that control America. Not “we the people” - and certainly not any idea of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
The present tyranny borrows from marxism and cultural marxism heavily, but is essentially a capitalistic beast that has accumulated power through capitalist tools. It deserves a new name. I propose a borrowed and modified one - banana fascism.
The “banana republics” that America created in banana growing nations in the twentieth century were a microcosm of what is happening in America today. The CIA, the President (McKinley, Eisenhower, Raegan etc) and the American military were all acting on behalf of their capitalist masters and were being played like puppets.
The violent coups, the civil wars, the massacres, the terrible human rights abuses, the assassinations and the control of the economy that America engineered in these banana growing (and other) nations were all done under the cover of fighting “communism.” It did not matter that the governments that America was covertly and openly overthrowing were in fact democratically elected by the long-suffering people of these Latin American (and other) nations. The enemies of the ruling class are changeable - today, you can replace “communism” with “alt-right,” “white supremacist,” or “Trumper.”
The fascist and bloody dictatorships that America created in South America served the capitalist ruling class well - arbitrary arrests, torture and detentions of the dictator’s political enemies was an essential part of the banana republic’s modus operandi. The dictator, the American government, the CIA, even the great majority of the American people followed along meekly, without so much as a whisper of protest against the terror and destruction that their own Government was unleashing on millions of people in South America and elsewhere.
The same, predatory ruling class has established its own banana fascist dictatorship again - this time in America itself. Blackrock, Vanguard, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, hedge funds, big pharma, Washington D.C.’s “think tanks,” and the neo-con establishment have simply inherited the same addiction to money and power of their forbears from the era of the cold war - and the puppets (Biden, FBI, CIA, Congress, the judiciary etc) are busily scrambling to do the bidding of the new banana fascists.
It follows therefore, that the arrest and indictment of ex-President Trump was entirely predictable. Much before the Durham report confirmed the FBI/CIA/political class collaboration to bring down a duly elected President, it was obvious to any discerning citizen who knew the norms of democratic government (alas only perhaps about 10% of the citizenry) that this was an armed coup by other means. Every development since the launch of the fake “Russian investigation” in the early months of the Trump presidency, has confirmed the presence of the American banana fascist state - and that the banana fascists have openly taken over the running of the American nation.
Trump himself was mostly controlled by his own terrible choices of key cabinet colleagues - his cabinet therefore was almost certainly also chosen by his capitalist masters. Ties of his defence officials to the defence industry, his health officials to big pharma and his economic team to Goldman Sachs for example, were all part of this grand scheme.
But although Trump presided over a massive economic expansion, did not start any new war (he also declared the obvious - NATO has lost its relevance!) and committed the laudable crime of talking to President Putin, he also did some very egregiously wrong things - like assassinating Iranian and Iraqi generals, rushing through the experimental covid vaccine; and not pardoning Julian Assange. What his enemies fear most is his unpredictability - hence his persecution.
When chickens come home to roost, they don’t like being disturbed. The many chickens of America’s crimes abroad have returned home to America and they will not be easy to dislodge.
President John F. Kennedy knew that America’s actions and image abroad must match its ideals at home. In his 1961 inaugural speech, he said, “To those new states whom we welcome to the ranks of the free, we pledge our word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be replaced by a far more iron tyranny. We shall not always expect to find them supporting our view. But we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own freedom--and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.
To those people in the huts and villages of half the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required--not because the communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.
Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths and encourage the arts and commerce.
Let both sides unite to heed in all corners of the earth the command of Isaiah--to "undo the heavy burdens . . . (and) let the oppressed go free."
Since the eternal flame of freedom can never be put out and since the present tyranny represents the last gasps of a dying empire and like all tyrannies has a defined life-span, the coming revolution of the American people to cast off their shackles will either be a very bloody one, God forbid - or an entirely peaceful overthrow of the predatory ruling class and the rise of a true American idealism at home and abroad.
The latter may even bear the name of another Kennedy - and I would not at all be surprised if Robert F. Kennedy Jr. becomes the next President of the United States of America.
Meanwhile, we all know that bananas are very slippery things! In the book of Psalms, King David describes how the Lord God orders the punishment and fate of the wicked of every generation, including our own:
“Surely Thou didst set them in slippery places:
Thou castedst them down into destruction.”
REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR ESSAY! YOU DEFINED FASCISM EXACTLY LIKE THE TEXT BOOK DEFINITION AND IT THOROUGHLY APPLIES TO THE CURRENT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF TODAY!
TRIED TELLING PEOPLE ALMOST TWO WHOLE YEARS AGO TO REVIEW THE 4 BIDEN EXECUTIVE ORDERS/MEMOS. @ WH.GOV IN FEB/APRIL 2021 SETTING FORTH THE CABINET HEADS + INTELLIGENCE AGENCY HEADS AS THE “RULE AMERICA BY COMMITTEE” WHO ARE UTILIZING “FOREIGN” POLICY “DOMESTICALLY” TO DESTROY THE AMERICAN MIDDLECLASS!
ONCE THE MIDDLECLASS IS DESTROYED THEN THEIR MASTERS WILL HAVE THEIR FASCISTIC-ELITE CONTROL COMPLETE! THE ONLY OTHER PROBLEM YET FOR THEM TO OVERCOME ARE THE INDIVIDUAL STATES, BUT THEY ARE WORKING VERY HARD TO STRUCTURE GROUPED SMALLER NATION-STATES IN AMERICA (12 DISTRICT STATES)!
Dr. Christian, I respect you more with every essay I read. I would sure love to see a conversation between you and Vivek Ramaswamy, whom I also deeply respect.
I appreciated most the clarity of your analysis of what is going on in American and global politics - from a grounded in truth worldview. Absolutely spot on.
Thank you for articulating in a scholarly and multi-discipline intellect what many of us know, but are unable to express so succinctly. You make me proud to be a Canadian.
